Smelling like Fresh Paint Around Here
The smell of fresh paint is a complex one, with a variety of different notes. The most prominent note is the chemical smell of the solvents used in the paint. This is often described as being sharp, sweet, or even acrid. Other notes that can be detected include the smell of the pigments in the paint, which can be earthy, metallic, or even floral. The smell of the wood or other surface that is being painted can also be present, adding another layer of complexity to the overall scent. The smell of fresh paint is often associated with newness and cleanliness, and can be quite pleasant. However, it can also be overpowering and even nauseating in high concentrations.
This overpowering and nauseating feeling consumes me as I open shop for the whole world to have access. Perhaps, I should not be so dramatic but I am a fan. The scent of newness calms me and reminds me that it is normal to be consumed of the unknown that lies ahead of me. “Go after what you mostly fear…” they say and so here I am. Although, I am not walking by newly fresh painted walls, today is the first journal ever recorded of many this upcoming year and the day we hit publish. Similar to hosting your first dinner party with friends that never saw the design development and construction phase of your newly built home, it has been a long time coming. This is my dinner party and are welcomed to have a sit and enjoy.
